Permanent Marker

Permanent Marker was bred by Seed Junky Genetics, the California cannabis breeding house responsible for a long list of dessert and gas hybrids, and commercialized by Doja Exclusives. It's a three-way cross of Biscotti, Sherb Bx1, and Jealousy, all three tracing back through the Gelato and Sherbert lineage, which gives the strain its refined, terp-heavy character. After debuting in 2022, it went on to be named Leafly's Strain of the Year for 2023.

Permanent Marker Strain at a Glance

Permanent Marker is an indica-dominant hybrid, typically around 70% indica and 30% sativa, with THC levels ranging quite widely from 25% up to 35% depending on the batch and cultivator. Its dominant terpenes include limonene, caryophyllene, and myrcene, giving off a sharp, minty, marker-like aroma layered with gas, cookies, and a faint soapy floral note. Reported effects include a deeply relaxing body high balanced by an uplifting, creative mental lift.

A Closer Look at Permanent Marker Strain

Because Permanent Marker is grown by numerous licensed cultivators across different markets, reported THC swings dramatically. Some labs list it closer to 25%, while others report potency well into the 30s, so the number on any given jar really depends on who grew it. Visually, the buds run dense and dark, showing deep olive-green tones threaded with purple and blue hues, all wrapped in a thick, frosty layer of trichomes.

Limonene's bright citrus edge cuts through first, while caryophyllene adds spice and a gassy backbone underneath, and myrcene rounds things out with an earthy, faintly sweet depth that softens the sharper marker-like top notes.
