Taking it across any state line is illegal.

Adult-use customers can buy up to 2.5 ounces of cannabis per transaction, and no more than 15 grams of that can be concentrates. Edibles, gummies, and other infused products also count toward the limit. Michigan sets no daily cap for adult-use purchases, so the limit applies per transaction.

Adult-use cannabis purchases carry a 10% excise tax and a 6% sales tax. Since January 1, 2026, Michigan has also charged a 24% wholesale tax when growers and processors sell to retailers, which can affect shelf prices. That wholesale tax is currently being challenged in court.

No. Michigan law doesn't allow cannabis use in public places, such as parks, sidewalks, and parking lots, or in a vehicle. You can consume in a private residence or at a licensed consumption lounge. You can drive with up to 2.5 ounces, as long as it's sealed and out of the driver's reach. Never drive while impaired.
