There is no per-day cannabis purchase limit in New Jersey for adult-use consumers; the purchase limits for recreational cannabis is 1 ounce of flower, 5 grams of concentrates, or 1,000 milligrams of edibles per transaction. Medical patients (or caregivers) can purchase up to 3 ounces (84 grams) of medicine in 30 days. Terminally ill patients have no limit. This only applies to medical cardholders or caregivers shopping at medical cannabis dispensaries.
Adult-use marijuana transactions are subject to New Jersey sales tax of 6.625% plus a social equity excise fee of 1/3 of 1%. However, medical cardholders are exempt from these.

You are permitted to eat, smoke, or vape cannabis only in two locations: private property or licensed dispensaries that allow onsite consumption. This means you can use cannabis at your own home or a friend’s place, provided it doesn’t breach your lease or HOA regulations. Renters, take note: landlords have the authority to prohibit or restrict smoking.
